Developer Mark Hunt has applied to combine the Crystal Palace and an adjoining space at a location where he previously unveiled a commercial redevelopment concept.
The application, which was submitted to Aspen’s Community Development Department on March 17, would merge 300 and 312 E. Hyman Ave., creating an estimated 9,000-square-foot space. In September, Hunt unveiled plans for five redevelopment concepts, including the retail idea for the Crystal Palace. It is unclear how his latest application will affect those plans.
Attempts to reach Hunt were unsuccessful Monday.
No alterations or actual development is proposed in the application. If approved, the adjoining space at 312 E. Hyman Ave. would become historic, a designation the Crystal Palace already holds at 300 E. Hyman Ave. The Crystal Palace is approximately 6,000 square feet, while the adjoining space is about 3,000 square feet.
Owner 312 E. Hyman, LLC, which is controlled by Hunt, submitted the application, while Mitch Haas of Haas Land Planning prepared the application.
