Snowmass Village, Colorado:
Snowmass Village residents approved a property tax increase for the Snowmass Water and Sanitation District on Nov. 5, according to unofficial results from Pitkin County.
Ballot Issue 5A, which the district has said will support the replacement of aging water and sewer infrastructure, much of which is 30 to 50 years old, passed with 355 votes in favor and 245 against.
Voters in 1998 approved a bond measure for 1.297 mills for the expansion of the wastewater-treatment plant, which expires Jan. 1.
With approval of Ballot Issue 5A, that mill levy will be extended and increased to 2.135 mills. The total tax per year will now equate to $16.99 per $100,000 of actual home value. The extension and increase has been approved for the next 10 years.
